NGC 4867 is a 14.5 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type "E3" in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is an estimated 214 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 30,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4864 , NGC 4871 , IC 3955 , IC 3968 .
The object was discovered on May 10, 1863 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest ; this observation was confirmed on April 28, 1885 by Guillaume Bigourdan .
