NGC 4865 is a 13.6 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type "E3" in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is an estimated 211 million light-years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 55,000 ly, and is a member of the Coma Galaxy Cluster .
The galaxies NGC 4858 , NGC 4860 , IC 3955 , IC 3968 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on April 22, 1865 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
