NGC 4847 is a 14.3 likes bright elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E2 in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 210 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 35,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4825 , NGC 4836 , NGC 4838 , NGC 4855 , among others .
The object was discovered on April 19, 1882 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
