NGC 4869 is a 13.8 mag bright elliptical galaxy (and at the same time a radio galaxy ) of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Haar der Berenike . The galaxy is about 307 million light years from the Milky Way.
NGC 4869 belongs to the Coma galaxy cluster and was discovered together with NGC 4872 or NGC 4874 on April 11, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope, which only noted "two of them".
