NGC 4866 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 87 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by William Herschel on January 14, 1787 .
