NGC 4863 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type SB (rs) 0 + in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 191 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 105,000 ly. Together with NGC 4783 and NGC 4825 , it forms the small galaxy group LGG 316.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4829 , NGC 4862 , NGC 4899 , among others , NGC 4902 .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on February 26, 1886 .
