NGC 4836 is a 12.4 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Scd in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 225 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4794 , NGC 4838 , NGC 4847 , NGC 4855 .
The object was discovered on April 19, 1882 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
