NGC 4822 is a 13.5 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E-S0 in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 192 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 4781 , NGC 4784 , NGC 4790 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on April 21, 1882 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
