NGC 4802 = NGC 4804 is an 11.6 mag bright, lens-shaped dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Raven south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 37 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 25,000 ly
. a. the galaxies NGC 4782 , NGC 4783 , NGC 4792 , NGC 4794 .
The object was discovered on March 27, 1786 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope , which she labeled “suspected. A pB star with a seeming brush to it np may be a vS neb. close to it. No time to verify it “(observation listed in the catalog as NGC 4804 ); then on April 20, 1882 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel (and listed as NGC 4802 ).
