NGC 4789 is a 12.1 mag bright, lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Haar der Berenike . It is estimated to be 374 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 215,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky is the galaxy NGC 4787 .

The object was discovered on April 6, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “just south of a pretty bright star”.
