NGC 4772 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Virgo. It is an estimated 43 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 ly. The galaxy is cataloged as the Seyfert 3 galaxy .

The object was discovered by William Herschel on January 24, 1784 .
