NGC 4788 is a 14.5 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is an estimated 287 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 70,000 ly. The galaxy is a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4787 , NGC 4789 , NGC 4797 , IC 3900 .

The object was discovered on April 23, 1865 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
