NGC 4845 is an active spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 52 million light years from the Milky Way and about 150,000 light years in diameter . The galaxy has an angular extent of 4 ′, 9 × 1 ′, 3 and an apparent magnitude of 11.3 mag.

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 24, 1786 .
