Mriksah
Mriksah (also known by an abundance of other spellings: Mexam, Mixam, Mixanno, Meika, Maxanno, Meaksaw and Mishammo ) was a sachem of the Narraganset from 1647 to 1667. His father was Canonicus , who abdicated as chief before his death, but before his death Nephew Miantonomo appointed as successor. This was murdered in 1643 by enemy Mohegan , so that Canonicus was reinstated as chief. Eventually Mriksah took over the dignity of a sachem and experienced a time of peace with the English settlers with his tribe. He was married to Quaiapen, the sister of the sachem of the eastern Niantic Ninigret . He had three children, only his son Scuttop of whom reached adulthood. There was another son named Quequaquenuit, baptized Gideon , and a daughter Quinimiquet.
After Mriksah, his great cousin Canonchet took over the leadership as a sachem.
