The State Constitutional Court of Saxony-Anhalt is the constitutional court of the State of Saxony-Anhalt . It is based in the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau .

According to the constitution of the state of Saxony-Anhalt , the constitution and procedures of the state constitutional court are regulated by law . This regulation was implemented by the law on the state constitutional court of 23 August 1993.

The State Constitutional Court is an autonomous and independent constitutional body and consists of seven members. It decides, among other things, on the compatibility of a state law with the state constitution, on (norm) constitutional complaints and on the interpretation of the state constitution.

The members are elected for a term of seven years by the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt , appointed by the Prime Minister and sworn in again before the State Parliament. They can be re-elected once. The following rule applies to the composition of the members: "Three members and their representatives must be presidents of the courts of the country or presiding judges at the higher regional courts. The other members and their representatives should, based on their experience in public life, for the office of a member of the State Constitutional Court particularly suitable and at least one member and his representative must be university professors of law appointed for life. "
