Winfried Schubert

Winfried Schubert (born February 7, 1951 in Hof ) is a German lawyer .

Life

Schubert passed the first state examination in law in 1975 and did his clerkship in the district of the Munich Higher Regional Court . In 1978 he passed the second state examination in law.

In the course of his legal career, Winfried Schubert initially worked as a public prosecutor and judge in Munich from 1978 to 1992 . From 1992 to 1994 he was head of department in the Thuringian Ministry of Justice and European Affairs. He then returned to Munich for a year as a department head in the public prosecutor's office . In 1995 he went to Jena and was Attorney General for Thuringia for nine years . In addition to his judicial and public prosecution work, he was a lecturer at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .

Schubert was President of the Higher Regional Court in Naumburg from April 1, 2004 until his retirement as the successor to Gertrud Neuwirth . In 2007 he was also elected President of the State Constitutional Court of Saxony-Anhalt . He was reappointed President of the Constitutional Court in January 2015. He retired in 2017. He was followed by Lothar Franzkowiak in the presidency.
