Meinrad Dreher (lawyer)

Meinrad Dreher (* 1955 in Karlsruhe ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .

Life

Dreher studied law and economics at the Universities of Friborg and Lausanne and, as a Fulbright scholar, at the University of Pennsylvania , where he obtained the title Master of Laws . After his clerkship in Freiburg and Frankfurt he received his doctorate in 1986 in Freiburg with Fritz Rittner Dr. jur. Four years later, also in Freiburg and also under the supervision of Rittner, the habilitation followed , with which he received the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, commercial law, comparative law, business law, company law and European law.

From 1991 Dreher held a chair at the University of Giessen . In the meantime Dreher was dean of the law faculty there. In 1995 he changed to the chair for European law, civil law, commercial and economic law, and comparative law at the University of Mainz , where he also temporarily served as dean of the law and economics department. Dreher also worked for several years at the Cartel Senate of the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main . He has been a judge at the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate since December 25, 2014 .
