Götz Schmidt-Bremme

Götz Volker Karl Schmidt-Bremme (born November 29, 1958 in Altena / Westphalia ) is a German diplomat . He has been the ambassador to Morocco since August 2017 . At the same time, he was ambassador for the German co-chair of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) in 2017/18.

Life

Götz Schmidt-Bremme studied law and philosophy in Bonn and Lausanne from 1977 to 1986 , served in the German Armed Forces from 1986 to 1987 and worked as a lawyer in 1987/88. He received his doctorate in 1991 at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer with a dissertation on the subject of "Military Transfer".

Götz Schmidt-Bremme is married and has 3 children.

career

Götz Schmidt-Bremme began his preparatory service for the higher foreign service in 1988, which he completed in 1990. The first employment took him from 1990 to 1992 as Deputy Consul General in Djidda (Saudi Arabia). He then worked until 1996 in the Federal Foreign Office's staff officer for fundamental issues. After that, he was head of the economic department at the Lisbon embassy until 1999 and deputy general commissioner for the 1998 Expo.

From 1999 to 2002 Schmidt-Bremme was deputy head of division in the Foreign Office for international criminal and tax law, then deputy consul general in Sao Paulo and from 2006, again in the Foreign Office, head of division for international civil, commercial and tax law. In 2012/13 he was envoy in Paris, then he was appointed representative for legal and consular matters, including migration issues.

Schmidt-Bremme has been the ambassador to Morocco since August 2017 , based in Rabat . At the same time, he was ambassador for the German co-chair (together with Morocco) in the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) in 2017/18.
