Michael Heinrich Krause

Michael Heinrich Krause (born July 11, 1651 in Torgau , † December 17, 1729 in Schalkau ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Born as the son of Torgau-based Johann Krause, court lord at Gut Gräfendorf near Klitzschen .

After finishing school in his hometown, he enrolled at the University of Jena in the summer semester of 1672 , which he only attended for a year. On August 19, 1673 he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg. Here he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy on April 29, 1674, and on January 8, 1681, he became an adjunct of the philosophy faculty. After obtaining a licentiate in theology at the Wittenberg University of Applied Sciences on October 17, 1683, he was appointed parish adjunct in Schalkau, succeeding Pastor Magister Theodor Treuner, who was appointed superintendent in Heldburg . After he had obtained his doctorate in theology in Wittenberg on December 11, 1683, the parish of Schalkau was also elevated to superintendent status in 1714 and Krause became its first superintendent.

After he had conscientiously filled his office in Schalkau for 46 years, he died of old age on December 17th, 1729 and was buried in Schalkau on December 22nd, 1729.

Only the appointment as adjunct in 1683 made it possible to have his own household and so shortly afterwards (1684) in Wittenberg, Krause married Catharina Elisabeth Deutschmann (~ June 6, 1662 in Wittenberg). She was a daughter of his former Wittenberg professor Johann Deutschmann . He had ten children with her in Schalkau, some of whom died young. Two of his sons became theologians. Michael Heinrich Krause (* 1691) became pastor in Effelder-Rauenstein in 1750 and Michael Gottlieb Krause (* 1693) was cand. Theol in 1750 . The daughter Maria Elisabeth Krause (* 1685) married the pastor of Heßberg , Johann Michael Fischer († 1718). His other daughters marry officials from Schalkau. The daughter Rosina Margaretha married the cent administrator Schalkau and later Hofrat in Hildburghausen Ludwig Müller. The daughter Adelheid Maria married a certain licentiate Kob, the daughter Johanne Christina Krause married the chamber consultant Johann Nicol Sachs.
