Michael Hoffmann (* August 1955 ) is a German mountaineer, mountain and ski guide and trainer. He is the author of several specialist books on the subject of sport climbing , some of which are considered a standard work or bestseller .

Life

Michael Hoffmann studied geology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and graduated in 1985 with a diploma . Since 1982 he has been a certified mountain and ski guide.

Hoffmann works as a freelance mountain guide and as a trainer in the teaching team of the German Alpine Club (DAV). From 1995 to 2015 he was responsible for coordinating the federal sports climbing teaching team, which is responsible for training the DAV's sports climbing trainers. From 1985 to 2010 he was part of the teaching team of the Association of German Mountain and Ski Guides (VDBS).

He is the director of the Rotpunktschule founded in 1986 - the first "mountain school" specializing in sport climbing at the time. The Rotpunktschule was redesigned in 2011 and offers nationwide personal trainings. Trainers can be booked for individual climbing coaching.

Michael Hoffmann is married, has three children and lives in Ottobrunn .
