Michael Huber (manufacturer)
Michael Huber (* 1788 in Munich ; † 1857 ibid) was a Munich manufacturer and mayor of Haidhausen .
In 1815 Huber took over the paint workshop founded in 1765, today's Michael Huber München GmbH , from his father on what was then Landstrasse to Vienna (today: Einsteinstrasse ).
When the expanding company became too small, in 1831 he acquired the former "Jesuit Garden", the property on the corner of Kirchenstrasse and Elsässerstrasse . Here, under his leadership, the change from a small commercial enterprise to an industrial enterprise took place.
According to the chemist Gustav Schultz , the von Huber company achieved a worldwide reputation in the 19th century, primarily because of its carmine varnish under the name of "Munich varnish".
The Michael-Huber-Weg was named after him in 2006 through a new building area in Haidhausen.
