Michael John Whelan
Michael John Whelan (born November 2, 1931 ) is a British physicist . He is known for his fundamental work on transmission electron microscopy . He is Prof. em. from Oxford University.
Whelan graduated from the University of Cambridge . In 1965 he published the work Electron Microscopy of Thin Crystals with Peter B. Hirsch , A. Howie , Pashley and Nicholson.
He is a Fellow of the Japanese Society of Microscopy (2003) and the Microscopy Society of America (2009).
