Richard Delvy

Richard Delvy ( April 20, 1942 , † February 6, 2010 ) was an American surf music drummer, producer and music publisher. He was one of the pioneers in the surf rock genre .

Career

Delvy's first band as a drummer were The Belairs . With their guitarist Jim Roberts he founded The Challengers . With his band he released 15 albums. He proved his good business acumen as a publisher with Miraleste Music: He acquired the rights to the surf classic Mr. Moto , which he recorded himself as Mr. Moto 65 with the Challengers. His biggest coup, however, was taking over the songwriting credits for Wipe Out , which he marketed together with producer colleague John Marascalco . He ran a company under his name with several record labels, including Triumph Records and Princess Records. As a producer, Delvy works in the fields of hot rod , folk , rock and psychedelic rock . He accompanied Tony Orlando and David Cassidy as musical director on their concert tours.
