Hughes Medal

The Hughes Medal , named after David Edward Hughes , is an award given by the Royal Society for original discoveries in the field of physics , particularly in the field of electromagnetism and its applications. The prize consists of a gold-plated silver medal and (as of 2015) is endowed with prize money of 2000 pounds sterling . It has been awarded irregularly since 2008.
