Michele Dougherty
Michele Karen Dougherty (* 1962 ) is a South African physicist .
Career
Dougherty received her Ph.D. in physics in 1988 at the University of Natal , South Africa, then went to Germany for a few years and worked there in the field of applied mathematics . Since 1991 she has been Professor of Space Physics at Imperial College London . She worked on the Ulysses spacecraft project . She is also the Principal Investigator for the magnetometer on board the Cassini-Huygens spacecraft . In 2008 she was awarded the Hughes Medal for the innovative analysis of magnetic field data that led to the discovery of the atmosphere around a moon of Saturn .
