Michael Jurack

Michael Jurack (born February 14, 1979 in Straubing ) is a German judoka .

Jurack started judo at KSG Straubing-Aiterhofen at the age of nine . He celebrated his first international success in 1998 when he won the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships. However, in 1999 he had to take a six-month break due to a shoulder injury.

At the World Masters in Munich in July 2001 , Jurack prevailed against the international judo elite and won the tournament in his weight class.

In 2003 he reached 7th place at the Judo World Championships in Osaka . At the 2004 European Judo Championships in Bucharest , he was fifth and qualified for the Summer Olympics in Athens , where he surprisingly won the bronze medal.

For this he was awarded the silver bay leaf on March 16, 2005.

Jurack is a chief sergeant in the Bundeswehr and receives financial support from it. Jurack starts in the Bundesliga for the multiple German team champion TSV Abensberg .
