Michael Kaufmann (Rector)
Michael Kaufmann (born July 6, 1954 in Bern ) is a Swiss agricultural engineer , music journalist and cultural politician ( SP ) as well as musician (choir director and pianist). He has been the rector of the Lucerne School of Music since 2011.
Life
Kaufmann studied agricultural engineering at the ETH Zurich . He was editor-in-chief of the social democratic daily newspaper Berner Tagwacht and from 1992 to 2004 a member of the Bern cantonal parliament . From 1999 onwards, Kaufmann worked for a consulting and communications company in Bern. From 2004 to 2011, he was Vice Director of the Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) and responsible for the Energy Efficiency Department and for Swiss Energy, a program run by the Federal Council .
As a part-time he devoted himself to music. From 1995 he was Vice President of the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He was also involved in the reorganization of the Bern University of Music . From 2001 to 2004 he also studied music and media art at the Bern University of the Arts. Today he leads the Laltracosa Choir. He has been the rector of the Lucerne School of Music since 2011 .
