Stephan Siegenthaler (* 1957 in Biel / Bienne ) is a Swiss entrepreneur , clarinetist and university rector.

Life

Stephan Siegenthaler studied clarinet at the Bern Conservatory with Kurt Weber and with Thomas Friedli at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève and with Jost Michaels and Hans Klaus at the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold .

Then he worked as a music school teacher. In 1989 he became principal clarinetist with the Biel Symphony Orchestra . He took part in music festivals such as the Lucerne Festival and the Witten Days for New Chamber Music . Siegenthaler works with musicians such as Hiroko Sakagami Thomas Demenga , Hansheinz Schneeberger , Jürg Wyttenbach , Olivier Darbellay , Heinz Holliger, Kaspar Zehnder, Kolja Lessing, Konstantin Lifschitz, the Stamic Quartet Prague, the Leipzig String Quartet and others. v. a. together and played world premieres of works by numerous composers a. a. Jean-Luc Darbellay , Franz Furrer-Münch , Heinz Holliger , Klaus Huber , Kolja Lessing , Albert Moeschinger and Alfred Schweizer .

Stephan Siegenthaler made first recordings of classical, romantic and contemporary works (clarinet concertos and chamber music) on CD: compositions by Ferdinand Thieriot, Joseph Purebl, Bernhard Molique, Heinrich Kaminski, Hermann David Koppel, Donald Francis Tovey, Daniel Gregory Mason, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco , Carlo Pässler, Ewald Strässer, Heinz Holliger, Hans Huber u. a. m. Stephan Siegenthaler adapted numerous works for clarinet and recorded them on CD, e.g. B. by WA Mozart, JS Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Vincenzo Bellini a. a. m. He founded the concert series Klangartconcerts in the Franz Gertsch Museum in Burgdorf. From 2008 to 2010 he was rector of the Lucerne School of Music .

Stephan Siegenthaler was a co-founder of the medical technology company Obtech Medical AG. He is CEO of the Implantica Medical Group.
