Alois Koch

Alois Koch (born August 22, 1945 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss musicologist , church musician and conductor .

Live and act

Alois Koch studied organ at the Winterthur Conservatory and conducting at the Lucerne Music Academy. He then became a music teacher at the Stans grammar school. In 1975 he received his doctorate in musicology from the University of Zurich . In 1982 he founded the Collegium Musicum of the Jesuit Church St. Franz Xaver in Lucerne. From 1991 to 1998 he was the cathedral music director at Hedwig's Cathedral in Berlin and director of the choir of St. Hedwig's Cathedral .

From 1987 to 2000, Koch was director of the Lucerne Academy for School and Church Music. From 2001 to 2008 he was rector of the Lucerne School of Music . He taught conducting and church music . He founded the collaboration with the renowned Lucerne Festival . Koch is also adjunct professor at the University of Lucerne .

He conducted as a guest a. a. the Bern Symphony Orchestra , the Symphony Orchestra of St. Gallen , the Basel Symphony Orchestra , the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra , the Orchester Musikkollegium Winterthur , the Berlin Symphony , the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Stuttgart Philharmonic .

From 2002 to 2007 he was President of the Swiss Music Council (SMR).
