The focus of the artistic work are the symphony concerts in Biel and Solothurn. In addition to intensive maintenance of the classical repertoire, there is a special interest in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Numerous orchestral works, u. a. by Edward Rushton , Urs Peter Schneider , Cécile Marti, Daniel Andres , Jean-Luc Darbellay and Hanns Eisler , as well as operas by Christian Henking , Jost Meier , Martin Derungs, Martin Markun and Benjamin Schweitzer were premiered by the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to the symphony concerts and opera productions by Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn, the orchestra presents chamber concerts, concerts for seniors and small children, as well as the annual outdoor summer concerts with young musicians from all over Switzerland.

The recognition of the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra is also reflected in the list of invited guest artists: internationally renowned conductors such as Lawrence Foster , Matthias Bamert , Nathalie Stutzmann , Augustin Dumay , José van Dam , Arabella Steinbacher , Heinz Holliger , Milan Horvat , Maxim Vengerov , Marcello Viotti , Gábor Takács-Nagy, Natalia Gutmann , Louis Lortie, Patricia Kopatchinskaja , Misha Maisky , Feng Ning, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon as well as Giovanni Bellucci testify to the high artistic quality of the orchestra.

Guest performances were performed by the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra a. a. to Austria for the « Carinthian Summer » and the « Feldkirch Festival », the Martinů Festival in Basel, the Bern Music Festival, the International de musique de Besançon Festival and the Music Chapel Festival in Brussels.

Various CD recordings met with positive national and international feedback. In 2015, the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra started a new series on the CPO and Outhere Music labels with recordings by little-known Romantic composers such as Robert Radecke , Ferdinand Thierot , Josef Rheinberger and Robert Volkmann .
