Daniel Andres

Daniel Andres (born March 6, 1937 in Biel / Bienne ) is a Swiss composer and musician.

He received his musical training at the Bern Conservatory (today Bern University of the Arts). His teachers included Otto Schaerer , organ, and Sándor Veress , composition. Later he continued his education with Kazimierz Serocki .

Daniel Andres worked among other things as Kapellmeister , répétiteur and choirmaster at the Musiktheater der Stadt Biel (today Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn ) from 1972 to 1979 and from 1984 to 1989. From 1989 he was an organist and church musician in Biel, from 2002 a freelance composer.

Andres also worked as a journalist for a time and published an autobiographical novel as well as several books on the building history of Biel. 1996–1998 he was President of the Landesring der Independentigen (LdU) .
