Franz Konrad Paul Jaeger (* 4. December 1941 in St. Gallen ; heimatberechtigt ibid) is a Swiss economist , Emeritus Professor of Economic Policy and former politicians of LdU .

Life

Jaeger grew up in St. Gallen and attended the Flade secondary school . In 1970 he received his doctorate. oec. and completed his habilitation in 1980 at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). From 1972 to 2007 he taught economics there. Since then, he is an emeritus professor of economic policy . From 1989 to 2007 he was director of the Research Institute for Empirical Economics and Economic Policy. From 2008 to 2016 he was Academic Director at the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law at the University of St. Gallen, where he was responsible for the new certificate programs as well as for economic and social policy.

From 1971 to 1995 Franz Jaeger was a member of the National Council, from 1990 to 1991 he was President of the National Council's Finance Commission and from 1992 to 1995 a member of the National Council's Economic Commission. From 1985 to 1992 he presided over the Landesring der Independen (LdU) party, which is closely related to the Migros cooperative .

As part of his main research interests, he has published numerous papers in the fields of European economic integration (euro), macroeconomic stability policy, the labor market, competition, privatization and deregulation economics.

From 2003 to 2004 Jaeger was on the Advisory Board of the Avenir Suisse Foundation . He and his wife have been running a communication and economic policy consultancy company since 2007. He was a member or president of various Swiss and foreign boards of directors and foundations. He has been President of the Eastern Switzerland Education and Culture Forum since 2013.

Franz Jaeger is married to Eva Nietlispach and has four children. He lives in St. Gallen and between Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi in Liguria .
