Edward Rushton (composer)

Edward Rushton (born 1972 in Norwich ) is a British composer , pianist and song accompanist.

Life

Edward Rushton received a piano training and studied composition at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester , then with Robin Holloway at King's College , Cambridge and at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with the composer James MacMillan .

Rushton was a répétiteur in Münster in Westphalia for two years and studied lied accompaniment with Irwin Gage at the Zurich Conservatory in 2001 . Since 2000 he has been teaching song accompaniment and chamber music at the Lucerne School of Music . He accompanied Juliane Banse , Yvonne Naef , Lázsló Polgár and Simon Wallfisch , among others .

Rushton has recorded several CDs with songs and piano works. In 2015 he founded the project “Visit to the Songs” with the aim of organizing recitals in private rooms in Switzerland.

He composed a number of commissioned works, including several operas .
