Robin Greville Holloway (born October 19, 1943 in Leamington Spa ) is an English composer .

Life

From 1952 to 1957 he was a choirboy at St Paul's Cathedral in London . He matriculated at King's College (Cambridge) and studied composition with Alexander Goehr . In 1974 Holloway became Assistant Lecturer in Music at the University of Cambridge and from 1980 he was a lecturer. In 1999 he was awarded the degree of Reader in Composition and since 2001 he has been Professor of Composition. He is also a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College , Cambridge .

Holloway has been called a "neo-romantic" composer; this is also reflected in his affinity for music around the turn of the century (1900).
