Michael Klevenhaus

Michael Klevenhaus (* 1961 in Bonn ) is a German actor , singer , author , language and cultural mediator.

Life

He studied Scottish Gaelic & Gaelic traditional music at the " University of the Highlands and Islands / Oilthigh na Gàidhealtachd agus nan Eilean" in Scotland and is the first German to have a master's degree in Gaelic. In 2002 he founded the German Center for Gaelic Language and Culture in Bonn. Since 2000 he is Germany correspondent for the Gaelic Broadcasting of the BBC . As an author, he wrote Gaelic short stories and novels as well as the textbook of the Scottish Gaelic language . He sings traditional Gaelic songs a. a. in the ensemble Òran is Pìob. As part of a dissertation at the University of Koblenz , he is investigating the connection between the Scottish songs of Beethoven and Haydn and the Gaelic musical tradition. For his services to the Gaelic language and culture in Germany, he was awarded the International Gaelic Award of the Bòrd na Gàidhlig in Edinburgh in 2013 .
