Michael Kutzop (born March 24, 1955 in Lubliniec , Poland ) is a former German football player of Polish origin.

Career

Kutzop moved to Germany with his parents in 1968. In the same year he began to play in the C-youth of SC 07 Bürgel in Offenbach am Main , the following year he moved to Kickers Offenbach . In his first year in the A-Jugend 1971/72 he ran on a team with Dieter Müller and Jimmy Hartwig, among others . He also completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic.

A serious arm injury and military service temporarily interrupted his playing career in 1972. In 1976 he started playing soccer again for the Offenbach regional league team Gemaa Tempelsee , in 1978 he switched back to the OFC at Bieberer Berg and received his first professional contract. He came to his first missions in the 2nd League South in the 1979/80 season, he was part of the OFC's regular formation from the start. Until the rise of Kickers in the Bundesliga Kutzop came to 120 second division inserts in the Bundesliga , he graduated in the years 1983 to 1990 a total of 31 league appearances for Kickers Offenbach and 121 for Werder Bremen . In 1988 he became German champion with Werder Bremen .

Kutzop missed one of the most famous penalties in Bundesliga history when he shot the ball against the right post in the 88th minute of the match between Werder Bremen and FC Bayern Munich on matchday 33 of the 1985/86 season, thus making the premature decision in with his team missed the championship. On the last day of the match Bayern Munich secured the title with a 6-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach with the better goal difference , as Werder lost 2-1 in Stuttgart against VfB Stuttgart , who had defeated 6-0 in the first half of the season. This penalty should remain the only missed of 40 penalties in Kutzop's Bundesliga time.

Until its closure in October 2012, he headed the Rudi Völler football school in Cala Millor on Mallorca.
