Michael Niemeier

Michael Niemeier (* 1960 in Hildesheim ) is an administrative lawyer and has been Vice President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) since January 21, 2019 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Niemeier studied law at the University of Mannheim . In 1991 he joined the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and was employed from 1993 to 1999 as a consultant in several posts in the departments of constitutional / state organization law and police matters. Subsequently, until June 2009, as an exchange officer, he held functions as a speaker, head of division and advisor in the cabinet of French Interior Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie in Paris .

In July 2009, Niemeier was appointed Director at the Federal Criminal Police Office and Head of the International Coordination Department, based in Berlin . His last use before being appointed Vice President of the BfV was again in the BMI from 2016. There he was Head of Division G 3 (International Affairs) as well as the Federal Ministry of the Interior's commissioner for North Africa .
