NGC 2862 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Leo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 180 million light years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest on February 21, 1863 .
