NGC 2838 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Lynx the northern sky . It is an estimated 369 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 100,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2844 and NGC 2852 .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on March 18, 1787 .
