NGC 2824 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0? in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 120 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 30,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy IC 2450 .
The object was discovered on April 30, 1864 by the astronomer Heinrich d'Arrest with a 28 cm telescope.
