NGC 2811 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 97 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 2005am was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on December 31, 1785 .
