NGC 2819 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E1 in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 399 million light years from the Milky Way and about 165,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on December 21, 1863 by the astronomer Albert Marth with a 28 cm telescope.
