NGC 2852 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 79 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 25,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2844 , NGC 2853 , NGC 2860 , among others .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 18, 1787 .
