NGC 2855 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 76 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 19, 1786 .
