NGC 2878 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 320 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2861 , NGC 2877 , NGC 2897 , NGC 2898 , among others .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on March 28, 1864 .
