NGC 2898 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble-type S0 / a in the constellation Water Snake south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 152 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 45,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2877 , NGC 2878 , NGC 2897 , among others .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on February 6, 1864 .
