NGC 2906 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 90 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2894 and IC 540 , among others .
The type II supernova SN 2005ip was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on December 28, 1785 .
