Michael Oberland

Michael Oberland (born March 15, 1960 in Hagen ; † August 18, 2015 in Cologne ) was a German basketball player .

Life

Oberland, a two-meter-tall winger, rose in 1980 with the team of BG Hagen from the 2nd basketball league to the basketball league , played with the BG 1980/81, then in the top German division and after relegation in 1981 again in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Overall, Oberland, nicknamed "Baba" in basketball circles, was part of the BG Hagen men's team for 20 years. He was appointed honorary captain of the BG and was awarded the silver club pin by TSV Fichte Hagen in 1863 .

Oberland died in 2015 at the age of 55 and was buried in the Remberg cemetery in Hagen.
