Michael Ott (literary scholar)

Michael Ott (* 1964 ) is a German literary scholar and politician .

Life

Ott studied German literature , history and political science in Erlangen, Munich and Pisa and was established in 1999 with a thesis on honor and gender differences in German literature in 1800 at the University of Munich doctorate . In 2013 he completed his habilitation on the subject of poetics of height. The alpine discourse and the German-language literature of the modern age . Ott has held professorships for modern German literature at various universities since 2012 , including a professorship for German literature in a European context at the University of Konstanz since 2015 . As a politician, Ott was nominated by the SPD as a direct candidate for the Bavarian state elections in 2018 in the Munich-Mitte district .

Since October 2019, Ott has headed the literature and performing arts department in the cultural department of the City of Munich .
