Michael P. Kube-McDowell

Michael P. Kube-McDowell (born August 29, 1954 in Philadelphia ) is an American science fiction author . In German-speaking countries he is best known for his three novels in the Star Wars universe . McDowell was born in Philadelphia and is a second married to Gwendolyn Lee Zak, with whom he has a daughter and two sons. In 1985 his novel Emprise made it into the final selection of the Philip K. Dick Awards and in 1991 The Quiet Pools was nominated for the Hugo Award .

Three of his stories were adapted for the television series Tales of the Darkside , and he wrote around 500 articles on non-science fiction topics, such as creationism or the space programs of the USA. He plays violin, guitar and piano in the folk rock group The Black Book Band and has already released the live album First Contact . McDowell and his family live in Michigan.
